Continuing the coffee rant
by shaun on November 2, 2006
I’ve recently sworn off coffee from my life. I know this comes after talking about the fine line between hot, just right and cold but my decision is final. My body reacts very strangely to coffee. I shake, talk much faster, sleep weird hours and most noticeably to me, I sweat out the coffee that I drank. “That’s disgusting”, you might be thinking, yeah I know. Now you can see why I’d like to give it the boot.
I also don’t like how my body started relying on it to function. I usually can wake up and start my day without a problem. Well now that I’ve been drinking coffee regularly, I’d say everyday for the last 6 weeks, my body craves that jolt of energy. It may actually be craving to stink of caramel macchiatto, my body is wacky like that. Of course sitting in the stink cloud of coffee everyday didn’t help me not crave coffee anymore either, so it was getting progressively worse. Whenever I was out of my house I needed to go to Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks, of which there’s 2 of each within walking distance of my apartment, making it that much easier to attain my stench enabler. I’ve been doing well the last couple of days, no headaches like I hear most people talk about. Maybe just my mind was addicted to it and not my body. My sweat glands are certainly glad to be rid of this stuff. They can go back to not sweating when I’m typing at a keyboard.
It’s winter time anyway which means I can switch to hot chocolate and cider without getting weird looks from people. That of course leaves me with the question, “what am I going to drink next summer?”. I’ll just have to worry about that when the time comes.
