Mystic Pizza – Cheese / Pepperoni

by shaun on November 4, 2008

I have never seen the movie before but since we were at Mohegan and it was only 12 miles away we felt we had to make the trip. It turned out that traveling 12 miles in the backwoods of CT is like traveling 50 miles anywhere else. I had no idea what to expect and only knew that this place was the set of a movie with Julia Roberts in it.

We got there and they had the movie playing on the TVs. My first thought of course was “Wow, do they have this on loop the whole time they’re open? And this movie was made in the 80s? That’s great to be proud of it but kinda sad they’re still holding on to it. Employees have to hate this movie.”

We ordered a classic pie of half pepperoni, half plain cheese. There was nothing special about it, it was just pizza. It brought me back to pizza I had as a kid from a place in Suffield, CT, called Billy’s pizza. What reminded me of Billy’s was the look of cheese and the same grease consistency from the pepperoni. Maybe all CT pepperoni comes from the same place.

In conclusion, if this is a slice of heaven then heaven needs an upgrade of some sort.
