Chicago - Day 1

After a nice 12 hours of sleep I was ready to explore the great windy city. First stop I needed some breakfast. I headed to the Salt and Pepper Diner on Lincoln Ave from the recommendation in my little map thing from the hotel, got an omelet and OJ, very delicious. I then headed to Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.

If you check out my pics from the Chicago trip you can see that I got a picture of inside the field and the rolled up carpet like grass they were using to replace the old crap on the field. That was pretty cool but shouldn't this stuff be done by now? The season starts in a week or so.

After buying myself an authentic Chicago Cubs T-Shirt I headed to the Hancock. This was crazy, the automated voice in the elevator said we were going 20MPH up to the top. It was a little cloudy so I couldn't see as far as they said you could on clear days. Great view though, I tried to do a stitch photo or whatever they're called. Next up was the Water Tower Mall. Way too many stores, most of them are in Boston too so it wasn't anything new, there was a neat one called Calypso 976 or something with very modern, expensive furniture in it. I then attempted to visit the Playboy headquarters. I made it into the building but had no clue what suite they are in and didn't want to look like a pervert trying to find them, maybe next time. All that walking made me tired and I still had an evening of food and improv with Rachelle, nap time!

Rachelle called and woke me up. She came to check out the swanky hotel and then we were off to Twin Anchors and Second City.

A very quick review of Twin Anchors, this place is awesome, just look at those ribs. We had great service, great food and even other customers are nice enough to let you know you're sitting with a hot broad. If you're ever in Chicago be sure and go here, Martha recommended, Shaun approved. We saw Doors Open on the Right at Second City. This was a great show, not sure how much of it was actually improvised but at the end they did a 100% improvised act. As an improv student it was great to see the pros go at it, noticing things working and not working and knowing why for each, it was very inspiring and motivating for me.

I didn't realize it but the last time I saw Rachelle was this weekend and I'm pretty sure that was the first time we met too, but we had a blast regardless. A big thanks to her for hanging out, we'll have to do it again for sure!
